CWIT meet the Premier of BC

The Canadian Women in Timber were granted a booth in the Council of Forest Industries annual convention that took place in Kelowna. The event was sold out, with more than 400 members of industry and government in attendance. We had a great booth location and had the opportunity to meet with many new folks, as well as catch up with old friends.

On the final day of the conference, we were fortunate enough to capture the interest of Premier Christy Clark! Her personal assistant invited us for a private audience with the Premier prior to her luncheon presentation. We gave her a goody bag of our materials and posed for several pictures. She was very interested in our program, and even used our work as the lead in to her presentation at lunch!

To encourage sound management and wise use of forest resources in Canada for the benefit of all, with a focus on public education through schools and community organizations; and enhance and foster public understanding of BC’s forest resources and sustainable forest management.
